Formblock Construction

Formblock® is a mortarless (dry-wall) system with each block using the specially designed plastic Form Bridge that holds horizontal and vertical reinforcing bars in place, thus ensuring that the steel is always in the correct location within the confines of the wall, as specified by the engineer.

Formblock® has large cores inside the block, to allow for adequate grout flow, thus ensuring that the steel is completely covered. As Formblock® requires no mortar above the first course, there are no mortar obstructions to hamper grout flow and no chance of voids within the wall.

This is a simple, fast and efficient method of construction, which is not effected by adverse weather conditions and, if necessary, is easily coated for various applications.

Formblock® offers excellent thermal mass characteristics that provide warmth in winter and cooling in summer. In addition, the use of Dow Styrofoam technology along with complimentary breathable coatings, help to keep buildings dry and mould free.

The system offers excellent noise control and fire rating characteristics. Low structural maintenance is superior to that of conventional solid masonry, and structural design incorporates integrity during seismic activity.

For structural, load bearing we recommend using the formfilled 140mm Form Block along with Dow's Immotus R+ panel system, giving a maximum of 190mm overall wall thickness. A report from Marshall Day is available in our downloads page including the full test results from CSIRO and BRANZ.
